Assistant Professor of Music (Director of Choral Activities) for Whitworth Univ. to work at our Spokane, WA loc. Conduct Choir and one additional choral ensemble based on interest and department needs; coordinate overall choral program, including the annual Christmas Festival Concert (in collaboration with colleagues); work with other choral and vocal faculty in recruitment and curriculum planning; teach in a secondary area based on expertise and departmental needs; establish and maintain positive relationships with regional music educators. Occasionally, expanded activities as being a guest conductor or a clinician for choral rehearsals and performances, a lecturer for masterclasses, and an adjudicator for choral competitions which will be performed at third party venues, etc., as directed by the University. May develop new courses contributing to the university’s innovative, interdisciplinary Shared Curriculum. Additional responsibilities include participation in departmental activities and governance, professional and research activities, attending state, regional and national professional association meetings; attending faculty assemblies, development days, and retreat, serving on committees, and advising. Some evening appointments + weekend events may be involved. Little regional travel may be involved not exceeding 60 days/yr or 5 days/trip. Salary: $65,156/yr plus comprehensive benefits. May undergo background checks incl Washington-mandated Sexual Misconduct Check of past higher education employment. Must have D.M.A. (or ABD) in Musical Arts or related field and 1 yr relevant choir activities experience or teaching music.
