Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities

Fairmont State University, a public regional university, located in the friendly city of Fairmont, West Virginia is seeking applicants for a full-time, 9-month nursing faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor for our undergraduate nursing program. Faculty rank is commensurate with education and experience. Positions are located on the main campus in Fairmont, WV.

• Assisting in academic advising of undergraduate nursing students
• Assisting the nursing faculty team in curriculum design and evaluation
• Planning and providing classroom and clinical instruction to facilitate student learning, including skills lab and simulation lab
• Applying best practices to facilitate teaching and learning processes and principles with a commitment to continuous quality improvement
• Teaches a minimum of 12 credits per semester, includes theory, clinical, skills lab and simulation lab
• Assessing and evaluating student progress toward attaining learning outcomes established for the courses and nursing program
• Documenting student learning, interpreting outcomes, and recording grades
• Assisting with student recruitment, admission, and retention
• Maintaining accurate and appropriate student, instructor, course, and program documentation
• Assumes responsibility for serving as a course coordinator, as appropriate
• Coordinate clinical rotation with clinical agency and clinical adjuncts
• Creating and maintain effective collegial relationships with students, faculty, university, and clinical agency staff and administration
• Modeling professional evidence-based nursing that is sensitive to diverse and multicultural considerations
• Establishing and maintain professional and ethical boundaries with students, co-workers, and others in all learning environments
• Participating in University service and events
• Perform other responsibilities that may be assigned by the College of Nursing Chair/Dean.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• May be exposed to short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties
• May be required to accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, to include but not limited to pens, pencils, and computer keyboards
• Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds

Minimum Required Education

Master of Science in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing enrolled in MSN program and ability to complete the degree within 2 years of hire.

Required Licenses and/or Certifications

Licensure to practice as a professional registered nursing in the state of West Virginia.

Minimum Required Qualifications

At least 3 years’ experience as an RN in an acute care setting.

Preferred Qualifications

5 or more years’ experience as an RN
