Job Description Summary

The Physical Therapy Program in the Department of Human Movement Science at Oakland University (Rochester, MI) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting August 15, 2025. Teaching: Contribute expertise across our Physical Therapy programs, including the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), graduate/post-professional certificates (Orthopedic Manual PT, Oncology Rehab, Teaching & Learning), and Ph.D. in Human Movement Science.

Research: Receive support and mentorship to establish a peer-reviewed research agenda, leveraging state-of-the-art labs, clinical partnerships, and strengths in upstream care and community engagement.

Service: Strengthen relationships with clinical partners, contribute to student recruitment and retention, and enhance academic programs and professional organizations. Oakland University values an inclusive commitment to teaching, research, and service.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Hold/obtain a Michigan Physical Therapy License
2. A CAPTE-recognized terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS, or equivalent) or ABD if applicant holds a DPT degree
3. Three years of clinical experience in physical therapy
4. Teaching experience in an academic physical therapy program
5. Record of scholarly activities
6. Demonstrate compatibility with current faculty
7. Support for goals, mission, vision and philosophy of the program
8. Perceived fit within the needs of the program
