The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana (USI) invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Physics to begin August 2026.
Duties/Responsibilities
The Department of Geology, Physics, and Environmental Science seeks an applicant to teach physics lecture and laboratory courses for science and engineering. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to teach astronomy or physics courses for non-majors, and upper-level offerings for physics majors. The new faculty will have a research agenda that leads to scholarly works that include a component of undergraduate student research. Start-up funds and other financial support, along with travel support, are available to facilitate a productive research effort.
Required Knowledge and Skills
A Doctorate in Physics or closely related field and experimental physics training are required. Applicants with ABD status will be considered at the rank of Instructor if doctoral degree will be completed by the end of their first year of employment. If employment starts in August 2026, terminal degree must be completed by the end of July 2027.
