Assistant Professor of Professional Practice
Position Details
This full-time faculty position is on-campus and in-person.
The John V. Roach Honors College at Texas Christian University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice (PPP) position in the College’s core interdisciplinary faculty beginning August 2026. Ideal candidates will be able to teach and create interdisciplinary courses across a variety of contexts that appeal to students in the John V. Roach Honors College. Qualified candidates will hold a Ph.D. or terminal degree in their field of expertise and have university-level teaching, administrative, and/or appropriate professional experience. Potential areas include the humanities, social sciences, education, and communication. Candidates should have experience with active and experiential learning, as well as discussion seminars. The base teaching load is 4/3, and all sections are limited to 20 students or fewer.
We seek a first-rate teacher who is:
- an excellent teacher dedicated to facilitating high-impact, experiential, and community-building practices for undergraduate honors students and engaged student mentoring;
- a collaborative and ambitious colleague who will enrich the College’s contributions to our students and to the TCU community while also elevating the national profile of the John V. Roach Honors College
Preferred qualifications:
- Either Honors or interdisciplinary teaching experience (or equivalent).
Department Details
The John V. Roach Honors College, in collaboration with academic units across the University, provides intellectually enriching curricular and co-curricular programs to approximately 1,200 students (9% of the undergraduate population) who represent over 40 majors on campus.
School/College Description
The John V. Roach Honors College is a community of ambitious, intellectually curious students from every major on campus (over 1,200 in total, approximately 10 percent of the TCU undergraduate population). Honors College faculty craft unique learning experiences through which students encounter ideas and perspectives beyond their majors, adding depth and context to students’ undergraduate studies and accelerating their personal growth. Through high-impact practices such as intercultural and interdisciplinary inquiry, discussion-intensive seminars, independent research and creative projects, and community-engaged learning, Honors students are immersed in a culture of transformative inquiry. Honors students are further supported by a dedicated team of Honors Academic Advisors.
