Central Connecticut State University invites applications to join the Department of Psychological Science as a full-time Assistant Professor, beginning Academic Year 2026-2027. The department will be hiring for two (2) positions. Although the area of specialization is open, we seek candidates who have expertise and strong interest in teaching statistics and research methods and mentoring students in research at the undergraduate and graduate (MA) levels. Successful candidates should also be prepared to teach undergraduate introductory courses (e.g., Introduction to Psychology, Lifespan Development) or other courses aligned with their specialization. The regular teaching load is 12 hours per semester with some evening classes required. We allow academic freedom in the applicant’s choice of psychological research. We offer mentoring and an attainable track to receiving tenure.

Applicant Evaluative Criteria
- Education: All applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field. ABD candidates may be considered, but the Ph.D. must be earned by the date of appointment (August 2026).
- Experience and Training (required):
- Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in statistics and research methods as well as other psychology courses depending on area of expertise.
- Ability to mentor and supervise student research at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
- Evidence of active research (e.g., peer-reviewed publications and presentations at professional conferences).
- Programmatic research plan.
- Ideal Candidate
- Evidence of effective teaching as demonstrated through teaching evaluations or other objective forms of evidence
- Knowledge of advanced statistics and open science practices.

Compensation and Employee Benefits
In accordance with the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Collective Bargaining Union Contract, compensation for this position is at the rank of Assistant Professor for 2025-2026.
