Position Overview

The Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University invites applications for the Roger E. Kirk Endowed Chair in Quantitative Psychology. We welcome candidates from all areas of quantitative methodology, especially in structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling, and longitudinal and time-series analysis. We seek individuals with international distinction and a demonstrated commitment to advancing and leading the field of quantitative psychology.

Advancing the development and application of sophisticated statistical modeling in the social and behavioral sciences is a strategic priority for both our department and the university. The successful candidate will contribute to foundational theory-building and translational research across the college and university. They will also have rich opportunities to collaborate with faculty in cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, clinical psychology, decision science, developmental psychology, social psychology, and research focused on intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

The successful candidate will join a vibrant and interdisciplinary academic community committed to advancing quantitative approaches to psychological science. Faculty in the Department of Psychology collaborate extensively with colleagues across campus and are actively engaged with research centers and institutes including the Translational Data Analytics Institute (TDAI), the Decision Sciences Collaborative (DSC), the Collaborative on the Science of Polarization and Misinformation (CSPAM), the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences (CCBS), and the Center for Cognitive and Behavioral Brain Imaging (CCBBI).

Performance Objectives

  • Maintain an active research agenda evidenced by publications in leading journals and scholarly outlets, alongside sustained efforts to secure external funding.
  • Design, teach, and continually enhance undergraduate and graduate-level courses that advance the departments academic mission.
  • Provide mentorship and academic advising to undergraduate and graduate students, fostering their professional and scholarly development
  • Engage actively in departmental governance and service, contributing to collaborative decision-making and administrative responsibilities

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarly achievement, including a robust research portfolio. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels is essential.

Department Information

The Department of Psychology is a central department on campus, with the third largest undergraduate major at OSU, almost 140 graduate students, and approximately 50 tenure-stream faculty. Our department aims to produce exceptional, innovative research to advance knowledge about mind, brain, and behavior, with the goal of understanding and improving the human condition. We seek colleagues who will help us advance research topics that build on existing strengths and develop and teach courses that will be attractive to graduate and undergraduate students, both within and beyond our department.
