The Social Sciences Program in the School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences at Lasell University is seeking a Full-Time Assistant Professor in the area of Clinical or Counseling Psychology (appointment at a more senior level may be considered, commensurate with experience). Preference will be given to visionary candidates with the interest in and background to become the Program Chair and help us to develop, expand, and market our programs. We focus on combining professional skill development with a strong grounding in psychological theory connected to career outcomes with a commitment to preparing students with the ability to work with diverse individuals across a variety of settings ranging from our campus to the community at large.
Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities will include courses in introduction to human services, counseling skills, and internship supervision seminars as well as courses in candidate's areas of particular interest/expertise. Supervision of undergraduate clinical internships and engaging with undergraduates in community partnerships are critical components of this position. Faculty at Lasell are strongly encouraged to teach within our Core Curriculum and are required to be active members of our community by participating in faculty governance. Student advising, a presence on campus, and individual scholarly productivity are additional aspects of this position. We are specifically looking for faculty who appreciate the value diverse students bring to a campus community and are eager to help foster an inclusive campus environment. Faculty in all disciplines at Lasell will have the opportunity to teach in our Core Curriculum and our Honors Program, which could include teaching First Year Seminar, a Knowledge Perspective course in one of four areas, a sophomore multidisciplinary course, or a section of the junior Ethics Experience. Interest in intergenerational issues is also welcome, as Lasell is a member of the Age-Friendly University Initiative. Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology or a related field is required although candidates who are ABD will be considered.
- Ability to establish and communicate a vision for the undergraduate program grounded in evidence
- Demonstrated collaborative leadership in an academic setting
- Expertise in counseling, case management and/or internship supervision; teaching experience in these areas is preferred.
- Experience in a student-centered teaching environment, as well as a passion for innovative, project-focused initiatives that utilize active, experiential pedagogy and a willingness to incorporate the University's Connected Learning Philosophy into their courses.
