Assistant Professor of Psychology

SDSU Imperial Valley invites applications for a position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Psychology with a Fall 2025 appointment. This position would be housed exclusively on the SDSU-IV campus, meaning all courses will be taught there. The position requires expertise to teach core Psychology courses at the undergraduate level, including lower- as well as upper-level classes, with specialization in the areas of Social and/or Developmental Psychology. The research area is open; however, applicants whose research programs are relevant to the Imperial Valley region and/or student population are especially encouraged to apply. A doctoral degree in psychology or a related field with research areas and expertise in psychology is required.

The minimum salary for this position is based on the current CSU salary schedule and may be revised based on contract collective bargaining. The anticipated salary range for an assistant professor is from $80,000 to $83,000. Salary placement will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. Salaries higher than the published maximums may be offered in limited circumstances. San Diego State University offers a rich benefits package that constitutes a major portion of total compensation. Applicants must have an earned doctorate in psychology or a closely related field by August 1, 2025. The individual will teach undergraduate courses in Psychology at SDSU Imperial Valley, maintain an active research agenda, and serve on university committees. Candidates must demonstrate in their cover letter and application materials that they possess defined research interests and experience with a preferred specialization in Social and/or Developmental Psychology. Candidates should have demonstrated evidence of research scholarship and teaching experience. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
