Shepherd University seeks an Assistant Professor of Psychology to join our team beginning Fall 2026.
The Psychology program at Shepherd is a vibrant major with approximately 125 students and a strong record of preparing graduates for advanced study and professional careers. While this position will provide instruction across the psychology curriculum, preference will be given to candidates who can provide instruction and leadership in clinical or counseling psychology.
The successful candidate will:
- Teach undergraduate courses in psychology and related areas within the psychology curriculum.
- Provide mentorship and advising to students in the psychology program.
- Engage in scholarly activity and service consistent with the expectations of a tenure-track appointment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in psychology by the time of employment.
- A demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Applied experience (research, practice, etc.)
- Ability to teach clinical-focused classes such as Psychopathology, Well-Being and Happiness, and Introduction to Clinical Psychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Ability to teach Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods, and the undergraduate research capstone.
Description of Job Duties:

Appointment to this position will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
