Fairfield University is a co-educational, comprehensive Jesuit university with a 200-acre campus located along the scenic shoreline community of Fairfield, CT, consisting of five schools: The John Charles Meditz College of Arts and Sciences, The Charles F. Fairfield University, Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) faculty position beginning in September 2026, pending final budgetary approval. The Egan School seeks to inspire students to become leaders across social and healthcare environments who improve health outcomes for all, inclusive of underserved or vulnerable populations. The Egan School’s Public Health Program offers an online/asynchronous, low-residency generalist-track DrPH program. Additional information on the DrPH program can be found here. The Public Health Program, which also includes an in-person BS in Public Health and an online/asynchronous MPH, is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).

We are particularly interested in scholar-educators with expertise in public health policy, leadership, and management, especially those with 3+ years of experience in public health practice. The teaching load is 9 credits each semester (typically 3 classes). In addition to teaching, faculty are also expected to engage in research and service, contribute to the public health profession, and advance the scholarship and service missions of the program, school, and university. While the faculty member will be teaching online, they are expected to be local to Fairfield to participate in on-campus events, meetings, and other student- and service-related activities.

Requirements

Hold a doctoral degree in public health (DrPH, PhD, or ScD) from a CEPH-accredited program. For applicants with a PhD or ScD, preference will be given to those who also hold an MPH from a CEPH-accredited program. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. Be prepared to teach online, asynchronous courses. Contribute to the enhancement of the DrPH curriculum through applied public health practice. Exhibit innovation in curriculum development and a strong commitment to advancing online teaching. Have an active research program and be engaged in scholarship that includes a record of publishing in peer-reviewed publications in the candidate's area of specialization. Demonstrate a commitment to promoting justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging that is consistent with the Jesuit mission at Fairfield University.
