Assistant Professor of Statistics
Position Information
Juniata College, a nationally ranked liberal arts college of 1,300 students located in the scenic Allegheny Mountains of central Pennsylvania, is hiring for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Statistics to begin August 2026. The standard teaching load for this position is 21 credit hours for the academic year.
We are looking for someone with demonstrated excellence as a classroom instructor who can teach courses with the use of technology in statistics and data science at both the lower and upper levels and can supervise undergraduate research projects. Preference will be given to candidates able to teach courses in multivariate statistics, statistical consulting, information visualization, and probability. Experience with R or Python and the use of technology in teaching statistics and data science courses is a definite plus. Candidates must provide evidence of continuing professional development which can include research in statistics, mathematics, or data science; consulting; or the scholarship of teaching and learning. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take leadership roles in the data science programs both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Position Qualifications
Candidates will have a Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics with an applied statistics background, data science, or a related field at the time of appointment.
This position reports to the Chair of the Mathematics Department.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with R or Python and the use of technology in teaching statistics and data science courses.
