"Assistant Professor"

Algoma University is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance, Economics and Decision Sciences. This is a three-year contract limited term appointment, OPSEU Local 685, located in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, with a preferred start date of December 1, 2025 or as negotiated.

The role primarily supports the newly proposed graduate program in Business Analytics. Candidates should contribute to teaching and research in Analytics, including teaching Statistical Analysis and Predictive Modeling at the graduate level. Strong assets include the ability to teach Data Analytics and Supply Chain Management, and potential to teach a course in building data-driven organizations. Other teaching interests may include Ethics in Data Analytics, Applied Econometrics, and Financial Analytics. Candidates will also teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students in capstone projects, engage in curriculum development, and participate in university service as per the OPSEU Local 685 collective agreement.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Data Science and Analytics, Management Science, Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated academic background, research portfolio, and teaching excellence.
• Experience with remote/online/hybrid instruction is desirable.
• Relevant industrial experience is valued.
