Assistant Professor - Plant Biology
Lehman College, of The City University of New York (CUNY), invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank in the Department of Biological Sciences, starting September 2026. The position requires a Ph.D. in Plant Biology or related field and postdoctoral training. Candidates must demonstrate effectiveness in teaching, scholarly achievement, and collaborative potential.
The successful candidate is expected to build an active, externally funded research program in plant biology, with interests synergistic to ongoing research at Lehman, CUNY, The New York Botanical Garden, and the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center. Areas include biochemistry, synthetic biology, computational biology, developmental biology, ecology, evolutionary biology, machine learning, and plant-organismic interactions.
Responsibilities include participating in undergraduate and graduate teaching, research training, and service to the department, university, and scientific community. The candidate will join the Doctoral faculty at the CUNY Graduate Center and mentor students in relevant PhD programs.
Compensation is $109,025 for a 9-month, full-time appointment, with potential for summer salary. Preferred candidates will contribute to diversity and foster a welcoming academic environment.
