Living Collections Specialist
Baylor University is seeking a Living Collections Specialist which enhances the education and enjoyment of the Mayborn Museum's visitors by ensuring the health and welfare of the museum's Living Collection through quality care, appropriate habitats, and nutritious diets. The ideal candidate will possess a basic Biology/Ecology/Environmental Science background, enjoy working with animals, and collaborate well with a team.
An Associate's degree and less than one year of relevant work experience is required. A Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant work experience is preferred.
A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Provide animal healthcare, including purchasing supplies, food preparation, feeding, watering, bathing, grooming, and clean, well-maintained, animal-specific habitats.
Monitor and maintains accurate records on all animals - making sure diets, medications, and inoculations are current (in consultation with a veterinarian), and health of animals is optimized.
Work with the Collections Manager to develop written, animal specific policies and procedures.
Assist in training and supervising student employees hired to provide weekend animal care.
Interact with and answers questions regarding the Living Collection from museum visitors.
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission.
Ability to comply with university policies.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
