Assistant Professor, Political Science – Liberal Arts
The Department of Political Science at Duquesne University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position in American politics. We are open to methodological approach and scholarly interests. The successful candidate will be able to teach an introductory course in American national government as well as courses in two of the following areas: 1) American political institutions; 2) political behavior (parties and interest groups; elections, campaigns, and voting; media and political communication) or 3) public administration and public policy. The successful candidate will be expected to continue the Department’s tradition of excellence in scholarship and undergraduate teaching to a diverse and dynamic student body.
Duquesne University is located in downtown Pittsburgh, PA. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution. The Search Committee will begin its review of applications on September 30, 2025, and will continue reviewing applications until the position is filled. It is strongly preferred that applicants have a Ph.D. by the start date. Applicants should submit: (1) a detailed cover letter describing research interests and teaching experience; (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) a single best piece of scholarship no longer than 40 pages; (4) teaching evaluations, if available; and (5) three letters of recommendation to be submitted directly from references.
