Part-Time Senior Associate for Movement Building
The NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools supports equity-focused, evidence-based innovations in educational research and programming. It operates through sub-units specializing in technical assistance, professional learning, applied research, scholarly research, and youth development programs.
The Education Justice Research and Organizing Collaborative (EJ-ROC) at NYU Metropolitan Center seeks a Senior Associate for Movement Building to support national movement-building in the education justice field, working with partners like Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools, HEAL Together, Journey for Justice Alliance, NEA, and AFT.
EJ-ROC provides critical research, data, policy, and strategic support to the education justice movement, focusing on rapid-response research, campaign strategies, leadership development, coalition-building, and communication plans with a racial justice lens.
Principal responsibilities include:
- Co-lead strategic support for the growth of Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools and other education justice formations (20%).
- Lead design and implementation of the National Education Justice Training Hub, including trainings on various topics (35%).
- Lead design and implementation of national coordinated campaigns, including strategy, implementation, coaching, and securing research and communications (20%).
- Co-lead efforts to create a healthy, liberatory culture within EJ-ROC and national formations (10%).
- Participate in and support HEAL Together organizing team, including strategy and planning (5%).
- Provide strategic organizing support to local and statewide education justice groups connected to national campaigns (10%).
This is a hybrid position requiring onsite presence 60-80% of the time (2-3 days per week). The hourly salary range is $67.66 - $78.35.
Required qualifications include 10 years of experience as a community organizer or coalition coordinator, 5 years leading campaigns, 5 years planning trainings, and a demonstrated commitment to justice. Preferred qualifications include a graduate degree and strong grounding in community organizing essentials.
