Job Summary
The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a full time (1.0FTE) open rank Assistant Professor - Professor to work as a clinical glaucoma and cataract specialist in our growing academic ophthalmology practice.
The position will provide outpatient medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts at UCH and affiliate sites of practice within the Denver metropolitan area.
Key Responsibilities
- This position will be responsible for direct outpatient medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts at the Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Eye Center, University of Colorado Hospital, The Children's Hospital Colorado, and affiliate sites of practice.
- Responsible for developing a robust glaucoma and cataract practice as well as a commitment to resident and fellow teaching and basic or clinical research.
Work Location
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications.
All Ranks:
- Qualified candidates will be M.D. or D.O. trained and have completed an approved residency program in ophthalmology including fellowship training in glaucoma.
- Must be board certified or eligible and have a Colorado medical license or be eligible.
- Experience and proficiency in medical and surgical management of cataracts and glaucoma is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Assistant Professor: Experience working within a multidisciplinary environment between subspecialty ophthalmologists is preferred but not required. Additional surgical training in complex anterior segment procedures also is beneficial but not required.
Associate Professor: 5+ years of experience in Glaucoma. Experience working within a multidisciplinary environment between subspecialty ophthalmologists is preferred but not required. Additional surgical training in complex anterior segment procedures also is beneficial but not required.
Professor: 7+ years of experience in Glaucoma. Experience working within a multidisciplinary environment between subspecialty ophthalmologists is preferred but not required. Additional surgical training in complex anterior segment procedures also is beneficial but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts.
- Demonstrated interest in resident teaching and basic or clinical applied research.

Anticipated Pay Range
HIRING RANGE:
- Assistant Professor: $225,000 to $250,000
- Associate Professor: $240,000 to $300,000
- Professor: $275,000 to $350,000
- Incentive (all ranks): $100,000 - $300,000
