Assistant Professor - Psychology

Job Details

Shape how students experience psychology at a learning-centered, student success–focused community college. As an Assistant Professor of Psychology, the primary responsibility is delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences that make course content accessible, relevant, and applicable to students’ lives. This role teaches courses such as introductory psychology, research methods, development, personality, and mental health, with an emphasis on helping students build confidence in research methods and quantitative reasoning.

Faculty facilitate the learning process through engaged instruction, supporting diverse learners and connecting concepts to real-world application. Responsibilities include designing meaningful assignments and assessments, evaluating student learning outcomes, and using data to inform instruction and support continuous improvement. Instruction may be delivered in a variety of formats, including in-person and online environments.

Beyond the classroom, this position advises students, contributes to curriculum development, participates in college service, and collaborates with colleagues to advance a culture of teaching excellence. The role may also support recruitment efforts and include evening, summer, or dual credit instruction.

The ideal candidate brings knowledge of research methods, experimental design, and statistical analysis, along with the ability to teach these topics in a clear, approachable way. Strong communication skills, a commitment to student success, and the ability to create inclusive, supportive learning environments are essential. Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Family Therapy, or a related field required. Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff from multi-cultural backgrounds.

Work Site Location: Coeur d' Alene Campus

Work Schedule: This tenure track position has summers off, with pay and benefits spread over 12 months!

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background check and proof of degree if required for this position.
