"Assistant Professor, Tenure Stream – Binocular Vision/Vision Therapy"

The School of Optometry & Vision Science in the Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo is seeking an outstanding scholar and researcher for a full-time, regular tenure stream faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, in the areas of Binocular Vision (BV)/Vision Therapy (VT) with an expected start date of September 1, 2025. Experience with Augmented Reality (AR)/Virtual Reality (VR), intellectual property development, entrepreneurship and commercialization would be an asset. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarship and teaching, and develop a robust, externally funded research program that supports a diversity of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. Evidence of an actively developing research program is required. Preference will be given to investigators whose expertise is complementary to research in the School.

Expected duties include research, teaching in the optometry professional program and vision science graduate program, and supervision of graduate students. Evidence of teaching excellence, innovation and flexibility in teaching modality will be highly valued. The ability to develop and teach an array of traditional in-person and on-line courses for a diverse student body is expected. Both optometrists and individuals from other relevant backgrounds such as neuroscience, psychology, and physical science disciplines are encouraged to apply. Applicants who are optometrists should be eligible for a general or academic certificate of registration with the College of Optometrists of Ontario.

The salary range of this position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Tenure stream is $105,000 to $125,000 per year commensurate with experience and qualifications. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
