Assistant Professor (Tenure Track), History, UC Clermont College
Job Overview
The University of Cincinnati’s Clermont College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of United States History with the ability to teach World History survey classes. The candidate's main responsibility will be to teach surveys in US history along with at least one section of World History, with potential additional courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The teaching load will be 12 credit hours in each of 2 semesters (4/4).
Essential Functions
- Teach a variety of undergraduate history courses including but not limited to introductory United States History surveys and World History Surveys.
- Create courses and teach in both online and in-person formats. Online instruction should meet the standards of the Quality Matters rubric.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and research in history or the scholarship of teaching and learning.
- Service duties such as participating in the governance and committee work of the department, college, and university such as but not limited to discussions of curriculum, creation of policies for the college and University, and attendance at committee meetings.
Minimum Requirements
Prior to the effective date of appointment, all of the following are required:
- PhD in History (No Candidates or ABDs)
- A minimum of four (4) courses of collegiate level History teaching experience, which must include one survey course in US History, one survey course in World History, with at least one course of online teaching and one course of in-person teaching

- A brief statement of teaching philosophy
- Evidence of excellent teaching effectiveness, including available student evaluations
- Evidence of professional development.
