Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Infectious Diseases

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

Teaching responsibilities may include high-quality teaching of CHOP fellows and residents, as well as medical students from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

Clinical responsibilities may include providing coverage in one or more of three inpatient consultation services: a service focused on children with general infectious diseases, a service dedicated to the care of immunocompromised hosts, and an attending-NP service currently focused on NICU and Orthopedic patients. Clinical responsibilities may also include seeing patients in the Division's busy outpatient clinical practice. In addition to our General Infectious Diseases Clinic, we have dedicated 'partner clinics' to provide collaborative outpatient care to patients with other underlying conditions, including malignancies, bone marrow and organ transplantation, and cystic fibrosis.

Additionally, as CHOP expands its footprint (i.e., King of Prussia Hospital, potential sites in NJ) and the Division of Infectious Diseases partners with outside organizations, some local travel may be required.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include fundamental or translational research in the field of infectious diseases. Applicants with a strong record of research productivity and interest in fundamental or translational research in the field of infectious diseases will be considered.

The Division of Infectious Diseases at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia invites applications for an outstanding laboratory investigator to join the vibrant research environment in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute (http://www.research.chop.edu). The Division has a strong track record of basic and clinical research across the spectrum of pediatric infections and host-microbe interactions. Candidates will also benefit from the larger research community across the University of Pennsylvania campus, which encompasses expertise in virology, immunology, bacteriology, parasitology, and the microbiome.
