The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking applications for a clinically-oriented ABIM board-certified academic faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, as a specialist to participate in both inpatient and outpatient services. The position emphasizes clinical care, education, and scholarly activity. Opportunities exist to work with house staff, fellows, and physician extenders. Education and clinical research will be available based on experience and expertise. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
- Outpatient Clinical Care - 40%
Develop a robust outpatient infectious disease practice, staffing one-two (1-2) half days per week at the either the Ryan White clinic site, the Wellstar MOB for Non-Ryan White patients or both depending on need. Staff fellow's clinic as needed. - Inpatient Rounding - 20%
Participate in inpatient infectious disease consult services. Other clinical duties will be adjusted accordingly during inpatient service periods, when possible. - Telemedicine - 5%
Provide telemedicine to off site outpatient clinics. - Teaching/research - 20%
Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows on service or in clinic. Participate in scholarly activities including publication of case reports, review articles, and original scientific reports. - Call - 15%
Participate in night and weekend call schedules similar to colleagues.
Required Qualifications
MD, DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution. Board Eligible/Board Certified in Infectious Disease.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
This position is (fully/partially) funded through external sources. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
