Job Summary

The Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder is hiring an Assistant Teaching Professor position in the Social Responsibility and Sustainability Division for Fall 2026. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in markets, social responsibility, business ethics/philosophy, and critical thinking at the undergraduate and possibly the graduate levels. The candidate should possess a strong understanding of economic and business paradigms, including free markets, capitalism, socialism, and various market structures. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have an interest in exploring the intersection of economic freedom with societal objectives and institutional structures. They should also demonstrate the ability to guide students in examining ethical considerations and fostering critical thinking in business decision-making.

Duties include developing and refining curricula, collaborating with Leeds Centers and divisions on related courses, and teaching eight sections per year. Under the general supervision of the department chair, the position involves preparing for and teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, staying current in the content area, evaluating student work, assessing outcomes, maintaining records, and holding office hours. Additional responsibilities may include advising students, providing departmental service, and other duties as assigned by the chair or dean.

The position is anticipated to be at the assistant teaching professor rank. Candidates with strong records in relevant areas are encouraged to apply. Depending on the candidate’s performance in the year (under the contract), the candidate may be hired at the same rank on a multi-year contract.

What We Can Offer

This is a one-year contract. The annual salary range for this appointment is $79,500-$81,500. $2000 in relocation moving expenses if moving from beyond a 50-mile radius from CU Boulder.

What We Require

  • We seek candidates who have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence with innovative pedagogy that is informed by both business and research experience. Must have a strong academic background.
  • A Master’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent in business, economics, psychology, sociology, history, education, law, philosophy, sustainability, anthropology, or a related discipline.
  • At least two years of university teaching experience at the undergraduate level in the fields of business, economics, ethics, sustainability, social responsibility, and broader multidisciplinary issues of related history and current context.
  • Demonstrated experience with innovative teaching approaches, such as class simulations, experiential learning, and online software platforms, among others.
  • A collegial approach to team-teaching: most or all courses to be taught by the person hired into this role are first and second-year undergraduate required courses with multiple sections taught every term by different faculty members. Faculty leads coordinate quality and consistency of delivery across sections. Essential for success in this role is an eager willingness to work closely and collaboratively with the faculty leads and peer colleagues who are concurrently teaching these classes to ensure consistency of content delivery and student assessment across all sections of each course.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • An earned Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent terminal degree in business, economics, psychology, sociology, history, education, law, philosophy, sustainability, anthropology, or a related discipline.
