Assistant Teaching Professor designated Small Animal Staff Surgeon (Fixed Term)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialist or residency-trained small animal surgeon (mixed orthopaedic and soft tissue) to join the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital, Cambridge. We are a large, multidisciplinary referral hospital, with a positive team spirit and a friendly, enthusiastic working environment. You would be joining a surgical team of 3 ECVS diplomates, 1 RCVS Advanced Practitioner and 2 ECVS surgical residents, supported by a surgical intern, specialist surgical nurses, and an in-house veterinary physiotherapist.

The role primarily involves the provision of clinical services within the hospital, alongside teaching and supervision of Senior Clinical Training Scholars, Junior Clinical Training Scholars and students with the opportunity to develop clinical research interests. Key hospital facilities include on site clinical and anatomical pathology laboratories, advanced diagnostic imaging modalities (fluoroscopy [including digital subtraction], ultrasound, on site CT & high-field 1.5T MRI scanner), rigid and flexible endoscopy (including ICG/NIR fluorescence imaging), diode laser, BOAS research lab, gait analysis lab and 5 very well equipped theatres including advanced laparoscopy/thoracoscopy/arthroscopy equipment, ultrasonic aspirator and Kyon hip kit.

Applicants should have significant experience in a Small Animal Hospital environment, have attained or be eligible to sit the examination for the Diploma of the European or American College of Veterinary Surgery, and have a veterinary degree registerable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

We offer a supportive and engaging environment with generous paid annual leave (41 days including the public holidays). In addition, we are able to provide competitive staff benefits and services, including family friendly policies, numerous discounts on shopping, health care, financial services, and public transport. We also offer a generous pension scheme, annual CPD allowance and tax-efficient bicycle, car lease and charity-giving schemes.

If required, time off clinics for exam preparation can be provided.
