Job Description
What you will do:
- Teaching in person, hybrid, and online undergraduate and graduate courses in the Human Development and Family Relations (HDFR) program. The teaching load for this position is seven courses per academic year.
- Participate in faculty meetings and initiatives; provide service in the HDFR program and in the School of Education and Human Development.
- Participate in curriculum development, program planning, and evaluation at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Participate in recruitment and retention initiatives in the HDFR program and in the School of Education and Human Development.
- Must be able to be on campus 3 days a week to participate in intentional advising and mentoring of full time and part-time first year and transfer students to support retention. This individual must be on campus to help create a student-centered environment for all HDFR majors, minors and Core Curriculum general education students who are enrolled in HDFR courses.
- Develop and maintain a basic research agenda related to family science and human development in balance with expectations as a teaching professor.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
- A doctorate in Human Development and Family Science, a Family Science/Relations concentration, or a PhD/Doctorate in Social and Behavioral Sciences including Education, Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology and Ethnic Studies with a background in family context.
- ABD (All but Dissertation) individuals will be considered if doctoral program is completed by August 1st, 2026. If program is not completed individuals will assume the position of Instructor and must complete doctorate program by January 1st, 2027.
- An academic background with an emphasis in family relations and family science with diverse family systems diversity across the ecological life span.
- Must have taught 3 years minimum family relations/ science and human development courses.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated advance competencies in teaching family relations, family science and human development with over 3 years in teaching across two or more of these areas.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in family relations and family science with diverse family systems across the ecological life span.
- Demonstrated experience or potential to teach family and personal finance or community experience in this area.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in teaching family relations, family science and human development in all courses.
- Eligible or potential to qualify for certification in Family Life Education (CFLE).
Conditions of Employment
This is a full-time 9-month academic year teaching position. Opportunity for summer teaching may be available depending on the academic year.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $78,000 to $80,000.
