Assistant Teaching Professor of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Emory University invites applications for a full-time, teaching-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor starting in the Fall 2026 semester. We seek candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate chemistry laboratory and lecture courses and a strong interest in pedagogy. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in Chemistry or related discipline by the time of appointment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with rank.

The appointee will join a cohesive group of tenure- (28) and teaching-track (7) faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the first-year laboratory courses in our innovative undergraduate curriculum, Chemistry Unbound, and will have the opportunity for course development and graduate instructor mentorship. The lab courses introduce a large (over 500 students per semester), vibrant undergrad community to experimental practices in lab and the use of evidence to draw conclusions.

The teaching track at Emory is one of the strongest and longest-running in the country. Teaching Track Faculty have full faculty governance rights and responsibilities and a path to promotion to the ranks of Associate and full Teaching Professor. The appointee will participate in faculty governance of the department and university, undergraduate student mentoring, and, optionally, Emory’s summer study abroad program in Siena, Italy. Our faculty are committed to creating a respectful community of educators and scholars and seek colleagues who are dedicated to supporting the growth of all students, staff, and faculty.
