Description

The Program on Education, Inquiry and Justice (EDIJ) at Georgetown University invites applications for a non-tenure Assistant Teaching Professor position (3-year term, possibility of renewal) to begin in August 2026.

The non-tenure line (NTL) faculty position for EDIJ would serve a three-year term teaching a 3/3 load (or equivalent). The NTL faculty member will also share in responsibility for student advising and broader programming to create a vigorous intellectual community within EDIJ.

The Program on Education, Inquiry and Justice (EDIJ) is an interdisciplinary program that focuses on the nexus of education and social justice. In EDIJ, students examine the historical and contemporary social context, policy, research, and practices of education in the US. The program anchors the study of education in the pursuit of equity within the liberal arts tradition; models and integrates active, engaged pedagogy; and facilitates rich, community-based opportunities in preK-12 environments for undergraduate students. EDIJ develops students' ability to critically examine the intersection of equity, education, and society and connects students with the local DC community.

We are particularly interested in candidates whose scholarly interests address issues of educational equity for children and youth who are marginalized in our educational systems and whose curricular interests encompass apprenticing undergraduate students into critical quantitative research, urban education, community-engaged learning, and/or experiential learning.

A Ph.D. in Education or a relevant field is required prior to appointment start date. Candidates must show strong promise of excellence in teaching.
