Assistant Teaching Professor
Carnegie Mellon University seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor in our Department of Languages, Cultures & Applied Linguistics at our Pittsburgh, PA campus, responsible for teaching elementary and intermediate Italian language courses as well as contemporary Italian culture and general education humanities courses in English and Italian. Specific duties include: (i) coordinating and developing the Italian Studies curriculum; (ii) overseeing course design and materials development as well as creating/engaging in student outreach activities; (iii) engaging in research in contemporary Italian literature, film, and culture, including migration studies; and (iv) publishing articles and participating in academic conferences in the field.
Must have a Ph.D. degree in Italian Literary and Cultural Studies or Romance Languages.
Must have native or near-native fluency in Italian and a demonstrated research focus in one of the following areas: (i) contemporary literature and culture; (ii) film studies; and (iii) contemporary migration studies.
Must also have demonstrated expertise in the latest approaches to classroom instruction, material development, and technology-enhanced language learning.
