Assistant Teaching Professor, Psychology

The Department of Psychology at The University of Tampa invites applications for a full-time appointment as an Assistant Teaching Professor to begin August 2026. This is a renewable, non-tenure track, instructional faculty position, with promotion opportunities. Instructional faculty are respected members of the department and have the principal responsibility of providing instruction and support to students, and while instructional faculty are expected to maintain currency in their fields, they are not required to have a research agenda.

We are looking for someone with a passion for excellence in teaching and introducing students to the foundations of psychology. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching 16 credit hours (a typical class is 4 credits) per semester. Courses may include general psychology, introductory research methods and statistics, and other introductory psychology courses including courses in the candidate's subfield. Other position responsibilities will include undergraduate student advising and committee service. Opportunities for winter and summer teaching may become available.

The psychology department at The University of Tampa currently has 20 full-time faculty and approximately 550 undergraduate majors. Undergraduates are offered a high-quality educational experience and are provided with training in the clinical, organizational, biopsychology, cognitive, social, and developmental subfields. Experiential education is emphasized with numerous opportunities for faculty-mentored student research, internships, and service learning.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD in Psychology or be ABD in a Psychology program (subfield is open).
