One-Year Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at Marymount Manhattan College invites applications for a Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin Fall 2025 pending final budget approval. This is a one-year appointment with a 12-credit per semester, 4/4 teaching load. This position may be renewable based on performance evaluation, institutional need, and resource availability.
Salary $68,000-$70,000
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field;
- Minimum two years of college-level teaching experience, with teaching expertise in Psychology;
- Ability to teach PSYCH 101 and PSYCH 102, Statistics and Upper-Level Psychology Courses
- Ability to use technology, i.e., learning software systems and MMC’s course management system (Brightspace) in course delivery;
- Expertise in Psychology and Statistics is preferred.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching 12 credits per semester (a 4/4 teaching load), including lectures in Introduction to Psychology (General Psychological and Clinical Processes; PSYCH 101 and 102), Statistics and an Upper-Level Psychology Course (in Developmental, Clinical, Cognitive, Educational Psychology, Health Psychology, Personality, Social or other forms of Psychology). Specific course assignments will depend on the expertise of the candidate and the needs of the department. Responsibilities also include: 1) keeping regular office hours; 2) providing tutoring assistance as needed; 3) advising and mentoring undergraduate majors in our Psychology programs as well as students pursuing post-baccalaureate coursework in Psychology; 4) providing undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students with assistance in preparation for entrance to professional programs, including Psychology, Social Work and Mental Health Counseling Graduate Programs; 5) participating in departmental and college-wide programs to recruit and retain students; and 6) engaging in other departmental service as determined by the department chair.
Candidates who have completed a Ph.D. will be considered for appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor; candidates who are near completion of a Ph.D. (ABD) may be considered for appointment at the rank of Visiting Instructor.
