Assistant Teaching Professor (Tenure-Track) in Sociology - Criminology and Criminal Justice

The Department of Sociology at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, to start January 1, 2027. This position is subject to final budgetary approval. The department is situated on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of Wolastoqiyik, on the Fredericton campus of UNB in the vibrant and diverse provincial capital of New Brunswick.

The salary range and fringe benefits for this position is defined in the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) 2022 – 2025 Collective Agreement sections 35 and 36B.

Applicants should have a PhD in Sociology, Criminology, Socio-Legal Studies and will teach primarily in the Criminology and Criminal Justice Program and provide support for the UNB Holland College Pathway Program. The position is for an individual with demonstrated excellence in teaching as well as research interests in areas related to foundational criminology and sociology topics such as criminological theory, white-collar and corporate crime, the Canadian criminal justice system, prisons and punishment, gender and justice, crime and media, gender-based violence, political violence or extremism, or homicide and femicide. The department offers both undergraduate and graduate (MA and PhD) programs. Department members engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision.
