Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology

Position Summary

The Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) Department of Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology (ACBP) invites applications for two tenure track faculty positions in the field of addiction research. Candidates at all academic ranks (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) are welcome to apply. Applicants must hold a PhD and/or MD. Review of applications will occur on a rolling basis until the positions are filled. Start dates are flexible.

The recruitment is part of an initiative between ACBP and the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute (SNRI) to expand ongoing addiction research on the Indianapolis campus. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, brain mechanisms and consequences of alcohol and substance use disorders. ACBP and IUSM are committed to fostering exceptional research within an integrated basic science and clinical environment.

Successful candidates will be collaborative, interdisciplinary researchers who engage in team science across the full spectrum of scientific activity - from basic discovery to translational and clinical research. Robust opportunities exist for collaborations in translational research across IUSM and IU Indianapolis campus and throughout Indianapolis, including a thriving neurobiology research program at the Roudebush VA Medical Center. Opportunities exist to collaborate statewide through the Indiana Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), a consortium between IU, Purdue University, the University of Notre Dame and Regenstrief Institute. Successful candidates are expected to contribute to medical and graduate education.

The Department of ACBP conducts cutting-edge biomedical research across a wide range of diseases and disorders. We train future health-care professionals through innovative education and contribute to service initiatives that strengthen IUSM's research and teaching environment. Our long-standing strength lies in integrating various life-science fields - from cell and molecular biology and genetics to anatomy, neuroscience, musculoskeletal biology, histology, and advanced imaging - to address complex health challenges.

IU School of Medicine is committed to being a welcoming campus community and we seek candidates whose research, teaching, and community engagement efforts contribute to robust learning and working environments for all students, staff, and faculty. We invite individuals who will join us in our mission to improve health equity and well-being for all throughout the state of Indiana.
