Assoc Director, MITEI Member Relations
Posting Description
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF MEMBER RELATIONS, MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), to contribute to identifying, cultivating, and recruiting new company prospects for MITEI in all priority geographic areas and to help with overseeing retention and relationship growth with existing MITEI member companies. The Associate Director will apply technical knowledge of energy and power sectors and MIT’s research portfolio in interactions with high-level company officials. These interactions will span fields such as carbon management, energy storage, electrification, nuclear fusion and fission, renewables, biofuels and e-fuels, energy infrastructure, data centers, and techno-economic analysis and lifecycle assessments of energy solutions. The Associate Director will also be conversant in the economic and policy forces affecting energy sector companies. The Associate Director will identify new MITEI directions that could enhance sponsored research funding for MIT. The Associate Director’s duties include business development, member engagement, development of MIT research portfolios with companies, contractual affairs, and ensuring member satisfaction, all in accordance with MITEI’s strategy, its decarbonization mission, and its operational model.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical/chemical science and technical familiarity with a minimum of one energy or power sector and the key tenets of energy decarbonization; a minimum of five years of experience in business development, program management or account management/support; proven ability to work collaboratively in small teams; outstanding written and oral communications skills and willingness to participate in occasional MITEI social events with members and in infrequent off-hour calls with member companies in distant time zones. PREFERRED: MBA or advanced technical degree with five years of experience in the private sector; familiarity with Salesforce and knowledge of energy startup culture; and proficiency in a foreign language.
Occasional travel required.
