Associate Chief for Anatomic Pathology
The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine are seeking an academically oriented, full-time anatomic pathologist to serve as Director of Anatomic Pathology for the VA Hospital. Broad expertise in surgical pathology is preferred with subspecialty expertise, particularly in gastrointestinal and/or genitourinary pathology. Must meet the basic requirements as set by the VA.
Duties include participation in the clinical service responsibilities of the anatomic pathology section at the VA, including but not limited to: providing clinical care; overseeing clinical care provided by house staff (residents) or other trainees; performing, supervising, or directing basic and applied research; following medical center and medical staff policies; staying current in medical knowledge and recent advances in assigned areas through continuing medical education; complying with patients’ rights and monitoring subordinates’ compliance; providing timely, effective, efficient, appropriate, safe, ethical, and mindful patient care; assisting with resident, medical student, and pathologist assistant education; and possible part-time rotation in an appropriate pathology subspecialty at the Yale-New Haven Health System. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an academic program reflective of her/his interests.
