Department Summary
Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide-ranging services to campus. IS is organized into four primary functional areas, each led by a senior leader reporting to the Vice President for Information Services and Chief Information Officer (VP CIO): Customer Experience and Artificial Intelligence, which serves as the primary point of contact for campus partners and advances user-centered services and applied AI initiatives; Enterprise Solutions, which manages and supports enterprise applications, integrations, and data platforms; Information Security, which safeguards the university's information, systems, and digital assets; and Technology Infrastructure, which provides engineering and operational support for research and enterprise compute and storage platforms, network and voice services, data centers, and classroom technologies.
The Leadership Agenda
The University is currently undertaking an assessment to evaluate options for modernizing its ERP and Student Information System (SIS) environment. ... Key components of the leadership agenda include: setting vision, strategy, and organizational structure; translating university priorities into technical strategy; developing enterprise applications roadmap; leading ERP modernization; fostering cross-campus partnerships; reinvigorating campus technology governance; implementing innovative technologies; serving on the IS Executive Council; and supporting technology-enabled transformation.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience, skills, and education.
- Ten or more years of progressive IT leadership experience with demonstrated depth in enterprise applications, integration services, and data management.
- Demonstrated leadership experience building, developing, and managing high-performing technology teams.
- Demonstrated experience leading information technology services in a large, decentralized, or otherwise complex organizational environment.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and sustaining organizational change.
- Experience managing and negotiating vendor contracts and agreements.

Ability to deliver on outcomes, vision and strategy; work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students; problem-solving skills; adaptability; excellent communication skills; ability to build collaboration and manage change across multi-year transformations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree, MBA or equivalent graduate-level business or technology management education preferred.
- Experience working in IT within a medium/large research university or similarly complex institution.
- Formal change management training or certification.
- Experience with ITIL or ITSM frameworks.
- Experience leading application and middleware services at scale.
- Proven experience developing and executing a multi-year technology vision and roadmap.
- Experience with business process improvement methodologies.
- Understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and RPA as applied to enterprise systems.
- Experience working with data governance frameworks.
