We are seeking an Associate Director of Development for The School of Arts and Humanities to shape and secure major philanthropic investment in one of Cambridge's most dynamic and globally respected academic communities.

Working alongside leading academics and colleagues across the University, you will develop compelling philanthropic propositions that connect visionary supporters with opportunities for meaningful impact across the Arts and Humanities.

You will be joining Cambridge at a moment of exceptional ambition. Philanthropy is central to the University long term strategy and the Arts and Humanities are an area of significant opportunity, attracting donors who are deeply motivated by scholarship, culture, creativity and the study of the human experience.

You will lead the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of six and seven figure gifts, working with influential individuals, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners in the UK and internationally.

Your work will directly advance research, teaching, capital projects and strategic priorities across a School that spans eight world leading faculties including Architecture, Classics, English, Music, Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics, and more.

From preserving ancient traditions to addressing contemporary global challenges, the funding you secure will help shape the future of the humanities.

What you will do:

  • Contribute to a long term fundraising strategy for the School, aligned with University wide priorities
  • Develop compelling proposals and cases for support that align Cambridge priorities with funder interests
  • Manage and cultivate a portfolio of high-value funders, with a focus on securing strategic six- and seven-figure gifts
  • Work closely with academics, research services, and fundraising colleagues to shape fundable projects

We are seeking an exceptional and collaborative development professional with the confidence and credibility to work closely with senior academics, high value donors and institutional partners.

You will bring:

  • A proven track record of securing significant gifts and managing strategic relationships with high level stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive proposals
  • Emotional intelligence, diplomacy and the ability to navigate a complex stakeholder landscape.
  • Strategic thinking, curiosity, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • An interest in how the Arts and Humanities shape our understanding of the world
  • A commitment to equity, inclusion, and working with integrity
