We have an exciting opportunity in the AMRC’s Composites Centre at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) for a visionary professional looking to use their skills developed in the composite manufacturing sector to make a global impact on the future of industry.

We are looking for an inspiring leader with a strong technical foundation and a proven track record in the advanced manufacturing research environment. You will have significant experience in securing and executing high-profile, high-value projects for industrial partners, ensuring financial sustainability and growth. As a person who motivates high performance, you will empower a diverse team of approximately 50 research and professional staff, fostering an inclusive culture where everyone feels they belong. While a good honours degree is essential, we also value candidates who can demonstrate a robust, proven background in similar high-stakes environments.

Based in the flagship Factory of the Future building at the heart of the Advance Manufacturing Park, Rotherham, the AMRC Composites Centre is a world-leading research group focused on composites material and process development. We work across critical sectors including aerospace, defence, and nuclear energy, translating cutting-edge research into meaningful industrial impact. The Composites Centre is a key part of the AMRC, known internationally for driving innovation and business transformation for global industrial partners.

As the Head of the Composites Centre, you will provide strategic direction for a group with an active order book exceeding £5M. Reporting to the AMRC Executive Board, you will lead the senior leadership team to deliver high-quality research outputs and cultivate a future business pipeline. This is a prestigious career move that allows you to drive the strategic development of new technologies, ensuring the AMRC remains a global leader in applied innovation. You will be an ambassador for the University, building trusted relationships with industry leaders and contributing to the broader vision of the AMRC.
