ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR / CURRICULAR PROCESS & SYSTEMS
Position Summary
The associate director of the curricular process and systems has primary responsibility for the strategic and collaborative leadership of the curricular process and associated support systems at Central Michigan University. This includes the administration of the university's curricular process and its tracking system. This position supports curricular initiatives and proposals as they move through the university's curricular process, including liaising with Academic Senate committees and supporting faculty and staff when submitting curricular proposals. This position is also responsible for collaborating with university constituents to improve faculty-facing academic technology systems, with a focus on the alignment of curricular and assessment systems. In addition, this position serves as a primary resource for information on curricular processes, policies, and systems, and helps promote an environment that supports curriculum centered on student-focused learning and success.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution.
- Four years of professional experience in higher education academic administration.
- Knowledge of specialized computer databases relating to academic processes.
- Knowledge/familiarity with academic curricular processes, policies, and systems.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Proficiency with basic computer software and operations including Microsoft Office applications.
- Troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Experience working with and communicating with faculty and university administrators.
- An understanding of national and/or regional accrediting bodies.
- Supervisory experience.
- Higher education teaching experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for the administration of the university's curricular process and its tracking system.
- Acts as a primary resource for explaining the curricular process, policies, and workflows.
- Works with faculty, curricular committees, and academic administrators in the planning, development, implementation, and review of curriculum.
- Develops and updates system resource materials for users and provides training as needed.
- Leads the expansion, coordination, and oversight of curriculum tracking, the course catalog (bulletin), syllabi, and associated IT systems.
- Recommends process improvements for curriculum processes.
- Troubleshoots and problems solves system function issues and provides technical feedback to programmers and vendors as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
