Inclusive History Project Educational Outreach and Curriculum Project Manager
The Inclusive History Project (IHP) is looking for an Educational Outreach and Curriculum Project Manager to coordinate Inclusive History Project class visits for the 2025-26 academic year, with a desired start date in late August 2025. The IHP is a multi-year presidential initiative studying and documenting a comprehensive history of the University of Michigan that stretches across its three campuses and Michigan Medicine. The IHP is working to engage the entire university and neighboring communities to better understand the institution's full history, including its record of inclusion and exclusion, and to consider what actions this history demands in the present.
This half-time position would be responsible for coordinating the IHP class visits program under the supervision of IHP Manager of Engagement Jennifer Junkermeier-Khan. The program was piloted in academic year 2024-25, with visits to twelve undergraduate courses on U-M's Flint, Dearborn, and Ann Arbor campuses that introduced the IHP and engaged students in discussions and activities related to the project. This position would lead the expansion and further development of the program, with responsibility for coordinating individual visits with faculty members, developing additional materials to support class discussions and activities, maintaining program records, and helping to design and implement an assessment tool.
The initial appointment will be for one year, with the potential for renewal for a second year based on satisfactory performance and funding availability. Work will be hybrid, with regular in-person work on the Ann Arbor campus and travel among U-M's campuses required.
- Coordinate individual class visits with faculty members and members of the IHP team for the Fall 2025, Winter 2026, and Spring 2026 terms
- Develop additional materials to support class discussions and activities related to the IHP through collaboration with the IHP team, including project leadership, PIs, student research assistants, archivists, and additional colleagues
- Maintain program records
- Assist with designing and implementing an assessment tool to identify opportunities and potential improvements to the program
- Prepare reports that summarize, analyze, and synthesize findings related to the program for IHP leadership as well as campus and external audiences
Master's degree in History or a related field or equivalent experience
- 1-2 years of experience teaching at the undergraduate level, including experience with leading discussions and developing curricular materials
- Experience with managing projects as part of a collaborative team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
