Associate Director, Major Giving (West Coast)
Job Description
The Associate Director, Major Giving, reports to the Regional Director, Major Giving (West Coast and Midwest) and is responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area/Northern California and Colorado who are capable of making gifts of $250K to $4.9M. Specific metrics will depend on the level of the hire, but the position is responsible for building and managing a portfolio of approximately 110 prospects, conducting 110+ substantive visits and raising at least $1.35M annually. To be successful in meeting those goals, the Associate Director is expected to devise creative strategies for guiding the relationship and for the ultimate solicitation of prospects by collaborating closely with colleagues internal to University Advancement and with external stakeholders/volunteers. The Associate Director writes effective solicitation letters and proposals and demonstrates strategic relationship management to maximize fundraising productivity, provides staff support for volunteer committees as assigned and develops productive working relationships with key volunteers.
Critical to the success of this position will be the ability to effectively collaborate & partner with fellow major gift officers, as well as other fundraising units including Athletic Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Gift Planning, Leadership & Annual Giving, and School Development. Productivity will be measured through individual performance.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The salary range for this position is listed according to the levels listed below, with the final salary based on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and internal equity considerations.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and full-time equivalent hiring ranges:
* Associate Director: $107,350 - $134,200; 3-5 years related professional experience
* Associate Director: $97,200 - $121,500; 1-3 years experience
Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor's degree, and for the first level Associate Director, 1-3 years directly related experience successfully closing gifts of $50,000 or more, and for the second level Associate Director, 3-5 years directly related fundraising experience successfully closing gifts of $100,000 or more, both levels preferably performed in a complex higher education environment. Travel and some evening and weekend work is required to be successful. A valid driver's license is required. A demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition is expected. Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications, such as e-mail, MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint is also expected.
