Associate Director of Finance (Neurology)
Johns Hopkins, founded in 1876, is America's first research university and home to nine world-class academic divisions working together as one university.
We are seeking a Associate Director Finance who will report to a senior finance leader in a school or large department with multiple functional areas and/or service lines. The position oversees and performs key financial functions of the designated area. This role performs complex financial analysis and planning. This role provides back-up for the finance leader of their unit and may directly supervise finance staff.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Partner with the finance leader of the unit and other key leaders in their designated area in the development of annual operating and capital budgets.
- Perform trending analysis and work with finance staff and administrative leadership to develop projections and forecasts.
- Identify potential financial risks and partner with the finance leader of the unit to ensure strategic approaches are taken to address issues.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial reports, reconciliations and analyses.
- Train and coach departmental finance staff and administrative leaders in effective financial management.
- Work with administrative leaders and finance staff to resolve budget issues and other financial reporting/compliance/audit issues.
- Review and authorize transactions as necessary to ensure expenditures are in compliance with institutional policies and governmental regulations.
- Partner with the finance leader of the unit in the development of financial models in support of new initiatives and programs/products.
- Design and maintain financial models to evaluate “what if” scenarios to reflect possible changes in key areas.
- Perform research, investigation, and financial review of new proposals for expansion or enhancement.
- Serve as back up for the finance leader of the unit at university-wide and divisional meetings as requested.
- Serve on project committees and working groups.
- Handle special projects at the direction of the unit leader.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
- Eight years of progressively responsible financial and administrative management experience.
- Supervisory experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field.
- Professional experience in higher education or an academic medical center.

Starting Salary Range: $99,800 - $175,000 Annually ($137,400 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
