Position Summary
The Associate Director for Student Financial Aid is cross-functional and in addition to provide support for financial aid counselors in Student Financial Services, is responsible for managing PHEAA compliance and reconciliation, as well as serving as the lead on graduate student financial aid. The Associate Director focuses on streamlining financial aid operations processes to ensure La Salle University remains compliant while providing an excellent experience for prospective students, current students and their respective families and support systems. The Associate Director demonstrates a strong understanding of federal regulations, financial aid operations, and billing, while supporting enrollment and retention for both new and returning students.
Essential Duties
- Ensure on-going proactive support and contact with students in-person, email, and phone communications providing high-touch concierge service from point of admission through graduation.
- Oversee graduate student financial aid and processing.
- Provide support to financial aid counselors and the SFS operation as directed.
- Oversee PHEAA grant process including applications, renewals, reconciliation, etc.
- Provide administrative support including program compliance with federal, state, and institutional financial aid.
- Lead student services team to provide seamless processes by providing optimal service to students.
- Support and assist with achieving enrollment targets by identifying and resolving issues/roadblocks related to financial aid, payment of tuition and/or other services.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with campus partners, students, and other administrative units to streamline student service.
- Track, monitor and report student interactions to and through the enrollment process to include outreach, calls, emails, visits, and processing.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Financial Aid and Receivables, and/or the Assistant Vice President for Student Financial Services.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Works collectively with other divisional and University-wide departments to enhance the enrollment service and processes for all students.
- Serves on University committees as directed.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and/or at least 5 years of experience working in Admissions, financial aid, or higher education.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of constituent groups.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, utilizing databases, and internet search software relevant to the position.
- Must be in good standing in all Federal Title IV programs.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Proficiency or fluency in Spanish
- Strong customer service orientation and experience in developing recruiting and communication strategies
- Knowledge of the La Salle University Community, The Christian Brothers, and the City of Philadelphia
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
- Evening and weekend work will be necessary during peak times
