Your next career opportunity
As the Associate Director within the HR Business Partner cluster, you will play a pivotal role in aligning HR activities with the University of Melbourne's strategic priorities.
You will have the opportunity to lead key HR initiatives, provide expert advice, and foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Your expertise will help build a strong, agile HR community that responds effectively to both local and University-wide needs.
What you will deliver:
- Lead HR activities for your cluster, developing integrated HR plans aligned with divisional and University strategy.
- Champion contemporary HR best practice, motivating, coaching and developing your team to build a high-performing environment.
- Provide expert, proactive advice on complex people matters, ensuring robust compliance with University policies and employment legislation.
- Partner with senior leaders and Centres of Excellence to identify priorities, broker specialist support and enable impactful solutions.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Bring extensive HR experience in complex environments, leading strategic people initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes.
- Hold a relevant tertiary qualification with significant HR experience.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, using strong influencing skills to shape decisions and outcomes.
- Demonstrate capability in both strategic workforce planning and day-to-day operational HR delivery.
- Lead and coach HR professionals to create high-performing, collaborative and outcomes focused teams.
- Apply deep knowledge of HR legislation and case management to manage risk and resolve complex people issues.

Your new team – Chief People Officer Portfolio
The Chief People Officer (CPO) Portfolio leads the delivery of our People Strategies and priorities enabling quality outcomes for students, staff and partners by delivering University-wide services and operational support to meet the organisation's evolving needs and strategic goals. The portfolio also works in partnership with teams across the University in alignment with the overarching ‘People Strategy’ and HR policies at the University.
