Associate Lecturer in Economic Principles

Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a part-time, fixed-term Associate Lecturer to teach the undergraduate module Economic Principles (Foundation Year).

Groups:

• Group 1: Spring and Summer term, Tuesday (Spring) / Wednesday (Summer) 14:00-17:00, 18 weeks of teaching.
• Group 2: Summer term, Wednesday 18:00-21:00, 9 weeks of teaching.

This module is compulsory for students on foundation year degree programmes in economics and finance. It provides initial exposure to these disciplines and uses real-world examples and data for engagement.

The role requires sound knowledge of economics, a commitment to student learning, and teaching experience at an introductory level. Sessions are three-hour interactive lectures.

Remuneration: £69.68 per hour, inclusive of London Allowance and holiday pay.

Contract: Fixed-term from January to August 2026.
