Role Description

The School of Arts & Creative Technologies is seeking to recruit an Associate Lecturer for 19 weeks fixed-term, 0.29 FTE, to support teaching and learning on our Theatre programmes.

Role

The main purpose of this role is to support teaching on our undergraduate programme, Theatre: Writing, Directing and Performance. This will include designing and delivering lectures, seminars, workshops, contributing to assessment and marking, pastoral supervision of students and collaborating with staff to deliver appropriate and engaging teaching material. In particular, this role may (but will not necessarily) require practical teaching specialism in one of the following areas:

  • Theatre and performance design.
  • Collaborative rehearsal room and theatre-making practices.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed

  • A PhD in Theatre, Performance Studies, or a related field (or nearing completion).
  • Experience in teaching and learning in HE at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Detailed knowledge in Theatre sufficient to develop teaching and provide relevant learning support to students across different levels of academic ability.
  • Specific practical teaching specialism in one of the areas indicated above (theatre and performance design; collaborative rehearsal room and theatre-making practices).
  • Highly developed communication skills.
  • Ability to design and deliver teaching materials across a range of modules.
  • Ability to supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and assist with learning problems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with academic, administrative and technical colleagues.
  • Experience of using different delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students.
  • Evidence of successful planning and delivery of teaching material.
