Postdoctoral Research Associate in Single-molecule Chemistry for Environmental Sciences
The Qing Laboratory at Oxford is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join a NERC-funded Pushing the Frontiers of Environmental Science programme focused on advancing nanopore technologies for the real-time detection of biogenic volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
This project sits at the interface of chemistry and environmental science, developing end-to-end chemical workflows for nanopore-based VOC analysis in collaboration with environmental scientists. The work aims to apply cutting-edge molecular sensing approaches to ecosystem monitoring and environmental diagnostics.
We are looking for candidates with a PhD (or near completion) in chemistry, chemical biology, environmental chemistry, or a related field, with a strong background in molecular sciences—particularly organic or physical chemistry—and an interest in interdisciplinary research. Experience in areas such as covalent or supramolecular chemistry, or single-molecule biophysics, would be advantageous.
The position is available initially for up to 30 months, with the possibility of extension. If you are interested in applying advanced sensing technologies to environmental challenges within a collaborative research environment, please get in touch to learn more.
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 15/04/2026, please upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.
