Level A: $91,381 - $121,838 + 17% Super + Leave Loading
Level B: $127,947 - $150,830 + 17% Super + Leave Loading - Location: UNSW Paddington Campus

Those who are appointed to this prestigious specialism will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities.
The role reports to Head of School and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities Summary: Level A -
- Demonstrate a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
- Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements and support students in line with UNSW policy and with the guidance of more senior academics.
- Design and develop learning activities and resources and provide assessment and feedback using a range of appropriate approaches and learning environments with the support of more senior academics.
- Contribute to the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning led by more senior academics.
- Support learning progression with students as individuals (through such activities as one-to-one consultation) and as a cohort (through general course related advice) to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes for students.
- Manage course administration, including academic quality assurance.
- Maintain professional development in pedagogy, disciplinary knowledge and minimum professional accreditation requirements (where relevant).
Level B (in addition to the above) -
- Demonstrate and continuously develop a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning;
- Conduct classes, assess student learning achievements and support students in postgraduate and undergraduate courses in line with UNSW policy;
- Design and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments
- Initiate the development of experimental approaches to teaching and learning with the support of more senior academics;

Skills and Experience Summary:
- A Master’s degree or PhD (preferred) in a related discipline, and/or equivalent industry experience.
- High-level proficiency in game design concepts, histories, theories, and practices.
- Experience or interest in Esports is desirable.
- Industry-level experience designing games and/or real-time interactive experiences for diverse audiences.
- Detailed knowledge of game systems and mechanics, with strong understandings of narrative design, level design, UX, and system design.
- Detailed understandings of the relationships between game design principles and game art asset creation, including 3D modelling, texturing, rigging, and animation techniques for real-time.
- High-level capability in using game engines such as Unreal Engine and/or Unity3D (essential).
- Experience using related software packages such as Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk Maya, Houdini, ZBrush, and Perforce (desirable).
- Strong understanding of the game development pipeline and workflows, with knowledge of current industry standards for documentation, prototyping, and playtesting.
- Experience in and passion for high-quality educational design, development and delivery in game design and related interdisciplinary learning environments.
- Strong understandings of theory and practice in related digital media arts areas including game art, 3D visualisation, moving image, sound, animation, and visual effects.
- A commitment to fostering experimental and interdisciplinary approaches to practice.
- Knowledge of educational technologies and online delivery methods
- A strong commitment to work-integrated learning (desirable)
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g. relevant discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales)
- Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives
- High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.
- Experience using related software packages such as Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk Maya, Houdini, ZBrush, and Perforce (desirable).
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills
