About the Role

The Lecturer in Industry Research Engagement (Teaching Specialist) plays a key role in advancing Flinders University’s strategic commitment to industry-connected research training and education. This university-wide position focuses on the design, delivery and continuous improvement of teaching and learning that strengthens industry engagement within Higher Degree by Research (HDR) pathways.

The position aims to develop innovative, flexible research training programs for industry professionals and HDR students and embeds industry engagement across research education to enhance student success, employability and real-world impact.

In this position, you will:

  • Lead the development and delivery of industry-engaged research training and HDR pathways
  • Design and implement innovative, technology-enhanced learning experiences across multiple delivery modes
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with industry, government and community partners to inform teaching excellence
  • Contribute to curriculum review, quality assurance and continuous improvement processes
  • Provide academic mentoring and professional advice to HDR students and staff
  • Represent the University in internal and external engagements relating to industry research training

About You

You are an experienced and innovative tertiary educator with a strong understanding of industry research engagement and research training. You are student-centred, collaborative and passionate about designing learning experiences that connect research with real-world application.

You demonstrate:

  • A PhD, EdD or equivalent doctoral qualification
  • Significant tertiary teaching experience and evidence of teaching excellence
  • Experience designing innovative curricula and delivering online or blended learning
  • Strong understanding of HDR pathways and industry engagement in research training
  • Demonstrated contribution to academic quality assurance and course review processes
  • Experience working with or within industry (desirable)
  • Tertiary qualifications in Education (desirable)

The Office of Graduate Research supports excellence in higher degree research across Flinders University. Working in close partnership with Colleges, professional services, research end-users and government programs, the OGR leads key initiatives that strengthen HDR training, engagement, partnerships and student success.
