The Associate Professor (CPD HE Learning & Teaching) will contribute to the Student Success sub-strategy by coordinating and contributing to the delivery of a strategically aligned programme of academic development CPD. The programme will contribute to our flagship Curriculum Shape project, by offering post-validation support to programmes as they develop modules and content that embed wellbeing, academic and digital skills, employability and real-world problems into the curriculum. The programme will support the new forms of pedagogy required to deliver the strategic intent of the project. The postholder will also ensure that the programme contributes to the work of the student success metric stakeholder groups, ensuring that CPD is offered which supports work to enhance NSS, continuation, graduate outcomes and BAME awarding metrics. The programme should be targeted to ensure that it specifically meets the needs of our large programmes, those in our Academic Programme Taskforce and where there are concerns relating to B3 continuation, completion or progression metrics.

Duties and responsibilities will typically include working as part of a team to:

  • Lead a programme of CPD that is strategically aligned to the Student Success sub-strategy.
  • Target support at priority programmes.
  • Offer expertise regarding initiatives relating to the key Student Success metrics.
  • Support the work of Curriculum Shape, by coordinating a package of post-validation support.
  • Support the work of the Academic Programme Taskforce, by offering support to programmes with lower NSS, continuation, graduate outcomes and/or BAME awarding metrics.
  • Offer development support to specific groups of staff, such as programme & module leaders.
  • Ensure robust evaluation of the CPD programme and refinement in response to findings.

You will undertake the normal range of responsibilities for academic staff on the learning & teaching pathway, including relevant teaching, scholarship & development activities.

You will have demonstrable ability to align with strategic intent and strong experience of supporting academic development of senior staff. You will have experience of evaluating the impact of projects/interventions on student-success, good data & analytical skills to target support and you will typically hold a PhD or equivalent professional practice.
